April 16, 2024, Toronto, ON and Philadelphia, PA - Ryan Quint, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Elevate Energy Consulting, has joined the EnerTech team as an Advisor on energy transition matters. As an advocate for an increasing amount of grid edge technologies, EnerTech has brought Ryan on board to help better assess the growing grid challenges due to increased adoption of electric transportation and the prospects of various solutions. He brings a depth of technical expertise, along with a global network of like-minded experts, that complements EnerTech’s current team.
“I am honored to be supporting EnerTech, its portfolio companies, and its strategic corporate partners. EnerTech is at the forefront of identifying and accelerating grid edge technology innovations across the electricity, mobility, and telecommunications sectors to tackle some of our biggest energy transition challenges,” said Quint.
Prior to founding Elevate Energy Consulting, Ryan spent nine years at the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC), most recently as the Director of Engineering and Security Integration, where he led numerous strategic initiatives focused on emerging reliability risk mitigation involving inverter-based resources, distributed energy resources, security integration, and leveraging emerging technologies. Ryan also has industry experience at Dominion Virginia Power and the Bonneville Power Administration.
“I was fortunate to get to know Ryan as part of a California Mobility Center sponsored working group, which he co-chaired with Joe Eto from Lawrence Berkely Laboratory and our own Mike Walker, regarding grid impacts of electric vehicle (EV) charging. When Ryan became available earlier this year, I was immediately eager to get him to bring his technical and deep insights into power grid operations to the EnerTech team,” Scott Ungerer, Founder and Managing Partner at EnerTech.
This working group resulted in a paper titled “Electric Vehicle Dynamic Charging Performance Characteristics during Bulk Power System Disturbances,” which highlighted the need for collaboration between electric utilities and the electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE) manufacturing industry to develop strategies that will help ensure bulk power system (BPS) reliability, resilience, and security. The group’s initiative was built on earlier research conducted by Ryan and Joe Eto and ongoing work by Ryan in his capacity as Director of Engineering at Security Integration at the North American Electric Reliability Corporation. Ryan’s broad electric industry experience and relationships, together with his passion in fostering robust cross sector technical collaboration in support of transportation electrification, will be an asset to EnerTech’s portfolio companies.
Ryan has extensive experience bringing industry stakeholders together to tackle difficult emerging reliability risk issues such as his work related to the analysis of large-scale inverter-based resource performance issues such as the 2021 and 2022 Odessa disturbances among many others. He has authored dozens of industry-wide guidelines, assessments, and technical reports that continue to help drive industry forward toward a clean energy future.
