Purdue Research Foundation Joins the EnerTech Advanced Mobility Ecosystem

October 31, TORONTO and PHILADELPHIA – Purdue Research Foundation (PRF) has joined the EnerTech Advanced Mobility Ecosystem (EAME), an enhanced collaborative environment that focuses on advancements in autonomy, electrification and alternative fuels, data and connectivity, smart mobility and digital manufacturing.

The agreement seeks to develop and share next-generation technologies and companies coming from the Purdue and the EAME ecosystem, leveraging PRF as a direct line to the world-changing research and intellectual property emerging from Purdue.

Purdue is one of the top 10 ranked universities in the US (6 years running) with over 400 research labs, fostering a cutting-edge research ecosystem alongside robust workforce development efforts. The University has received more than $647 million in research funding over the last year and has an overall sponsored program portfolio of $3.1 billion.

By joining the EAME, PRF aims to foster collaboration between entrepreneurs, investors, business partners, and other academic institutions to advance promising innovations to the market. Larger collaborative efforts like this are a critical aspect of PRF’s mission to share world-changing and life-saving technologies emerging from university research. Key areas of focus for Purdue include next generation energy systems and infrastructure including storage, alternative energy sources, hard tech including AI and robotics, industry 4.0 solutions and smart, autonomous mobility.

“We are excited to be joining EnerTech Capital’s Advanced Mobility Ecosystem to engage across a variety of innovations and business opportunities,” said PRF Strategic Ventures Chief Innovation and Collaboration Officer and Executive Director, David Broecker. “One of our key roles is to scout for next generation technologies and companies to bring into the University and programs like EAME are a powerful way to find these opportunities.”

Since its formation, EAME has welcomed members from various industries, including manufacturing, utilities, and several academic institutes from across North America. At its core, the partnership has been focusing on advancements in autonomy, electrification and alternative fuels, data and connectivity, smart mobility and industry 4.0. With the addition of Purdue, we are thrilled about the opportunities to advance mobility technologies and the potential collaborations ahead.

“We are excited to have Purdue join our growing ecosystem of university partners across the US and Canada. Their strong linkages with two of our corporate strategics in the Indianapolis area will provide significant synergies and partnership opportunities for our firm and portfolio companies,” said Wally Hunter, Managing Partner at EnerTech Capital.

As a leading firm in the mobility space, EnerTech has assumed a key role in building broad innovation partnerships, specifically working to create improved business engagement between industry leaders and early-stage innovation companies. EnerTech is excited about the momentum that EAME has and looks forward to its continued growth throughout North America.
