November 8, 2022, Toronto, ON and Philadelphia, PA – EnerTech is excited to announce the University of Alberta has joined a strategic mobility ecosystem it is building in the Canadian market. The partnership will support rapid transition to electric and autonomous vehicles in the future, with an aim to improve traffic management, safety, efficiency, and sustainability. The ecosystem will draw from and expand current University of Alberta research strengths in battery technology innovation, hydrogen and fuel cell technology, communication and network systems, smart mobility, artificial intelligence, and data analytics.
The University of Alberta is home to leading experts in both established and emerging fields including artificial intelligence, energy, nanotechnology, the environment and earth’s resources, clean technology, climate change, and smart technology. In joining this collaborative partnership, the University of Alberta joins key mobility technology partners including Alectra, Linamar, Western University, and Queen’s University along with a previously announced MOU between Invest Alberta, EnerTech, and the California Mobility Center.
The founding partnership, formed by EnerTech, Alectra, Linamar, and Western University, focuses on creating an enhanced collaborative environment that will promote research, development, and commercialization of advanced mobility innovations in the Ontario region. The expanded partnership with University of Alberta will help grow this mobility ecosystem into Western Canada. As the mobility sector transitions along with clean energy policies and strategies, advancements in the autonomous vehicles, electrification, fleet management, connectivity, and transportation logistics industries are imperative.
As a leading firm in the mobility space, EnerTech has assumed a key role in building broad innovation partnerships, specifically working to create improved business engagement between industry leaders and early-stage innovation companies. Along with the Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD), EnerTech co-architected the California Mobility Center (CMC), a nonprofit, public-private entity that focuses on accelerating the pace of commercialization for mobility startups. The CMC has also partnered with two notable academic institutions – University of California-Davis, and Sacramento State University.
